MEET THE COACHES
Breakers Head Coach
Katie McFarlane
My name is Katie McFarlane and I am the Head Coach at Breakers Swimming Club. I was a competitive swimmer for over 13 years and have raced at a National level with my best achievement, racing at the 2021 Olympic trials. The love I have for the sport inspired me to become a swimming coach and I have been coaching since 2017.
I am a Development qualified coach and I am currently undertaking my Advance qualification. I have also completed a Diploma in Sports Development. My energy and personality comes out in my coaching through creative and engaging sessions. My passion is to help other swimmers to achieve their potential and goals both in and out of the water.

Breakers Squad Coach
Angus Clouston
My name is Angus Clouston and I am a coach at Breakers Swim Club, working mainly with the Platinum Squad. I joined the Breakers team in September 2023. I am currently pursuing a degree in Exercise and Sport Science at ECU. I aim to gain in-depth knowledge, skills, and resources to become an outstanding coach. As a junior/age swimmer, I used to participate in competitive swimming. Unfortunately, due to multiple injuries, I decided to pursue cricket, which I still play at a high level.
As a coach, my primary goal is to mentor and challenge athletes to reach their full potential, not only in their athletic pursuits but also in their personal growth. I firmly believe that both aspects are equally important. To achieve this, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where all members feel comfortable and valued. My coaching style reflects my positive attitude, high energy, and enthusiasm for others' success.

As a former club Captain, I am passionate about the Breakers Swim Club and helping develop its young athletes to identify and unlock their swimming potential and enjoy all this sport has to offer.
